The Beloit High School Student Council is sponsoring a Thanksgiving Food Drive for the Mitchell County Food Pantry. This year’s theme is “Gobble Away Hunger”. If you would like to donate non-perishable food items to the Mitchell County Food Pantry, you can drop them off at any of the following local businesses between November 16 and November 23: Solomon Valley Bank, First National Bank, Central National Bank, Farmway Credit Union, Guaranty State Bank, Apple Market, Dollar General, S & S Drug, S & S Home Health, Gray Drug and Fountain, B & B Jewelry, and ShopKo. Items most needed are stove top stuffing, minute rice, Hamburger Helper, broth, muffin mix, instant mashed potatoes, pasta sauce, spaghetti, canned fruit, canned vegetables, jelly, canned pumpkin, canned meat, macaroni and cheese, and cranberry sauce. The student body and faculty at Beloit High School have been challenged by StuCo to bring in 13,000 points of food. Items range between one and five points. If that goal is reached, there will be a half-day off of school on the day before Christmas break. For updates throughout the Food Drive, please follow @BeloitStuCo on Twitter. Student Council would like to thank the residents of Beloit for their continued support of both StuCo and the Mitchell County Food Pantry.
