Youth Civic Leadership Institute:
The annual Youth Civic Leadership Institute (YCLI) will be held this summer at the Dole Institute of Politics in Lawrence. The Dole Institute at the University of Kansas is proud to sponsor this special leadership program scheduled for July 12th - 14th, 2023. They will host up to 65 incoming seniors from high schools around the state. Students will spend 3 days and 2 nights at the university engaged in a program designed to foster appreciation for and involvement in public service.
Schools nominate students who are interested, so you need to see Mrs. Eilert if you are interested in this opportunity. We must submit our nomination(s) by Wednesday, April 12, 2023.
This leadership program includes speakers, outings, workshops, and brainstorming sessions, all centered on the concept of encouraging interest in civic engagement. A highlight of the program will be a visit to the State Capitol in Topeka to meet with some of our state leaders. The Dole Institute will provide residence hall accommodations and meals at no charge. Students will stay in one of their newer residence halls on campus and college students will serve as their counselors (staff) in the hall. Faculty and staff will provide supervision. They ask students to arrange for their transportation to and from the University of Kansas.
The students selected for the Youth Civic Leadership Institute will be notified by mail, no later than Thursday, May 11, 2023.
