PAT receives Dane Hansen Grant administered by the Solomon Valley Community Foundation

On May 11, 2015, Beloit Parents as Teachers was awarded a grant from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation, administered by the Solomon Valley Community Foundation.

Parents as Teachers provides services to families with children prenatal through preschool entry.  At each family visit, Parents as Teachers gives families a book to keep, in order to build their family library and promote early literacy.  With increasing costs and tighter budgets, many PAT programs in the state have had to stop giving books to families.  Being able to provide families with age-appropriate books for their little ones is an important piece of the PAT program in our community, and Beloit Parents as Teachers doesn’t want to see that end.  In March, the PAT Coordinator submitted a grant application, requesting $750 to purchase books to give PAT families.  This grant was approved and will help provide books for families for 1 to 1 ½ years.

The award is greatly appreciated and will help continue PAT’s vision of supporting parents in being their children’s first and most influential teachers.
